How to Make Ashwagandha Powder at Home? 

For the most part, it’s quite easy to create Ashwagandha power at home from Ashwagandha leaves. 

Here are some steps to follow:

  • First, wash the leaves and spread them on a tray. 
  • Place the wet leaves outside for 2 days to sundry. 
  • After the leaves are clean and dried, grind the leaves until they take the form of a powder. 
  • If you don’t have Ashwagandha leaves, you can simply use premade powder or capsules.

As we mentioned at the start of this article, Ashwagandha powder is not easy to consume. Therefore, we’ve compiled some recipes to make them bearable so you can easily incorporate them into your diet. 

Ashwagandha Tea with Milk 

This is one of the most common ways to consume this herb. If you suffer from stress and 

fatigue, we recommend drinking two cups of this tea daily.

What you need:

  • ½ cup milk 
  • ½ cup water 
  • 1 teaspoon or 5 grams of Ashwagandha powder 
  • A pinch of cardamon 
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (optional)

How to Prepare? 

Mix the Ashwagandha powder with milk and water and heat it until it’s lukewarm. 

To improve the taste and the nutritional value, we suggest you add a pinch and cardamom, and honey before you consume it. 

Moon Milk 

If you suffer from insomnia and disturbed sleep, we recommend you pair Ashwagandha with nutmeg. This concoction is also called moon milk.

What you need:

  • 1 cup of milk of choice (coconut, cashew, almond, whole, etc)
  • ½ teaspoon Ashwagandha powder 
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger 
  • A pinch of nutmeg 
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil  
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup 

How to Prepare?

Bring the milk of your choice to a low simmer. It’s important that you keep an eye on the milk, don’t let it come to a full boil. 

Once the milk is hot, slowly blend the Ashwagandha powder, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg with a whisk. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes. 

Lastly, mix in the coconut oil. You can also sweeten the milk with a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup if desired. 

Note: For best results, we recommend you consume 1 teaspoon (1gram or 1000 milligram) every day to see the effects within 6 to 12 weeks.

Ashwagandha Banana Smoothie 

Our favorite recipe to mask the smell and taste of Ashwagandha is to incorporate it in a banana smoothie. 

Not only is this delicious but you also have a lot of freedom with this recipe. You can use dairy or nondairy milk or add in more fruit as per your liking. 

What you need:

  • 1 banana 
  • 1 cup of milk of choice (we recommend whole organic milk if you can digest it)
  • 1 teaspoon Ashwagandha powder 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder 
  • ½ cup of nuts or seeds 
  • Honey according to taste 

How to Prepare? 

Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend to create a smoothie. 

Ashwagandha Tumeric Milk 

This may not sound as appealing as the last recipe but Ashwagandha and turmeric are extremely medicinal. You can also add sugar to sweeten the milk. 

What you need:

  • 1 teaspoon or 5 grams of Ashwagandha powder 
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder 
  • ½ cup of whole milk 
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil 

How to Prepare?

First, mix the turmeric powder, Ashwagandha, and milk in a saucepan. Heat the mixture till it’s lukewarm. Be careful not to overboil it. Add coconut oil and enjoy. 

Ashwagandha Ghee

Ashwagandha ghee is one of the most used combinations in the Ayurvedic tradition. Ghee is a great anti-inflammatory and has cholesterol-lowering properties. 

What you need: 

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of Ashwagandha  
  • 1 teaspoon of ghee 
  • 1 teaspoon of date sugar 

How to prepare?

Lastly, a good way to consume Ashwagandha is to eat it as a snack. You can add Ashwagandha to chocolate to make a healthy and therapeutic afternoon snack. 

What you need:

  • ½ cup Ashwagandha powder
  • ½ cup maca powder
  • 1 tablespoon of raw cocoa powder
  • ½ cup coconut butter
  • ½ cup ghee
  • ½ cup of honey
  • Chocolate mold

How to Prepare?

Mix all the ingredients mentioned above into a chocolate mold and place it in the freezer to set. We recommend you let it cool for at least 2-3 hours. 

After the mixture is completely set, place it in a cool area to have it later.
