This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure here

Levium is a new liquid supplement that claims to reduce stress and anxiety. It uses a blend of herbs and vitamins, such as GABA, Magnesium, Ashwagandha, and L-Theanine. These are some well-known, tested ingredients, but does this supplement actually work? Let’s take a deeper look.

We did extensive research into Levium’s effectiveness for anxiety management, as well as bought a bottle for hands on testing. As part of the research, we also went through the reviews to see what other buyers’ experiences have been. In total, 34 hours were spend testing and researching Levium.

What is Levium? Is it Legit?

Levium is a liquid formula offered as a natural option to reduce stress and anxiety. The little bottles look similar to a 5-hour energy (plastic bottle with 2 oz of fluid). It contains a mix of natural ingredients to help manage stress, improve cognitive function, mood, and promote better sleep. Levium claims to reduce stress in a matter of minutes.

Levium’s natural active ingredients work by inhibiting enzymes that usually break down the Resilience Neurotransmitter.

Levium Reviews

Their website has close to 200 reviews with a high-rating, although there isn’t one review published below 3-stars (which is a bit suspect). They could be holding back negative reviews until they gain greater exposure. However, the reviews published appear legitimate. Levium is working for some. Here are a few examples of positive reviews from their website:

“So far I enjoy this. I feel calmer. I only tried the 12 pack and am ordering more so hopefully I will notice an even greater improvement with continued use. I can’t really describe the taste but it tastes good to me!”

– Nathalie C.

“This product is very disarming. You don’t realize what a great job it’s doing until you realize your busy & rapid thoughts are much quieter. A peaceful level enshrouds your being with no grogginess or drugged feeling. Will absolutely purchase again.”

– Lynn L

“I have been struggling with physical stress and anxiety symptoms mostly muscle tension, heart palpitations, feeling shaky and nervous, chills, and numbness. I have tried so many things, with antidepressants being my very very last resort if I couldn’t find anything to help me. Thankfully Levium showed up in my life and this has been the best thing to help me feel calm! I’m so happy to find something natural and effective!

– Monica

It is also available on Amazon so we took a look at the Levium reviews there. There are a few negative reviews that claim the product caused a headache or that it simply didn’t work (for anxiety).

Levium Ingredients

Levium provides a nice mix of herbs and nutrients, many with research that supports the ability to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s important to understand what is in Levium. Here is the nutritional tag that show the levium ingredients which we also go into more detail below:

Levium Supplement Facts: Ingredients

Vitamin C (as Ascorbic acid) – 40 mg

Vitamin C helps promote the production of the norepinephrine,  a neurotransmitter critical to brain function, which is associated with mood. 40 mg represents 44% of the recommended daily intake.

Niacin (as nicotinic acid)  – 20 mg

Also known as vitamin B3, Niacin is an important nutrient that can improve brain function and increase blood flow.

Magnesium (as magnesium carbonate) – 75 mg

This mineral is known for its ability to help manage stress and anxiety. One serving provides 18% of the recommended daily value. Learn more about the benefits of magnesium, in addition to the type of magnesium we recommend.

Sodium – 10 mg

Sodium is an important electrolyte that helps regulate fluid levels in the body. This tiny amount represents less than 1% of the daily value, but most Americans are getting plenty (often too much) sodium in their diet.

Levium’s Proprietary Renewal blend (900 mg) is comprised of the following:

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid)

GABA is a neurotransmitter that helps send messages between the brain and the nervous system. It helps regulate the activity of nerve cells leading to calmness and relaxation.

It’s unclear if ingesting GABA is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. In other words, this ingredient may not provide the intended calming benefits.

KSM-66 Ashwagandha root extract

Ashwagandha is a healing plant that is known for its ability to decrease stress, anxiety, and improve cognitive function. It is one of the most popular adaptogens, which are herbs that can help bring the body back to a state of balance.

KSM-66 is our favorite Ashwagandha extract. If you’re going to take Ashwagandha, KSM-66 is the way to go.

L-Theanine

L-Theanine is an amino acid, commonly found in green and black tea. Studies have shown it can help reduce stress, anxiety, and increase focus. Research has also shown that L-theanine can improve sleep quality.

Levium’s Proprietary Resilience Blend (123 mg) is comprised of the following:

Apigenin (Chamomile flower extract)

This bioflavonoid found in Chamomile tea can have anxiety-reducing effects. It can produce a sedative effect when consumed in high doses.

Luteolin (Chrysanthemum leaf extract)

While research on Luteolin is limited, it’s been used for hundreds of years in traditional Chinese medicine. The flower is thought to reduce inflammation and promote relaxation.

Polygonum Cuspidatum (root extract)

Also known as Japanese Knotweed, this root extract which has been shown to reduce inflammation. It’s also a source of resveratrol, which may help protect the brain.

Black Pepper (fruit extract)

Pepper does little on its own, but it’s often used in supplements for its ability to increase absorption.

Other ingredients include:

Water, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Gum Acacia, Xanthan Gum, Fruit and Vegetable Juice for color, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Stevia (leaf) Extract, Momordica (fruit) Extract.

Directions for Taking Levium

The drink is intended for once-a-day use, but the ingredients are safe enough to drink up to three in a day (although it gets pricey if you’re slamming three of these a day).

They also give warning about the potential side effect from the Niacin. Each bottle contains 20 mg of Niacin, which can cause skin flushing, redness, and a tingly sensation after taking. It dilates blood vessels and increases blood flow.

Is Levium FDA Approved?

Dietary supplements are not evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Always consult your physician if you have any concerns about taking Levium, or any product with the potential for contra-indications to prescription medication.

Levium Side Effects

On the product page, the company states that there are no long term side effects of levium. However, since Levium is a supplement and does not need to be approved by the FDA, it’s necessary to be mindful when taking supplements.

If you’re taking it for anxiety, here are some common levium side effects to look out for that other users have reported: headaches or migraines, irritability, poor sleep. There were several users who mentioned they hadn’t had any side effects of Levium.

The company mentions that any adverse side effects usually go away after extended use.

Bottom Line

Levium combines a number of well-researched vitamins and herbs for promoting calm and relaxation. While the ingredient profile isn’t all that unique, Levium is the first to offer this type of ingredient profile in an easy-to-consume drink.

If you have trouble swallowing pills, this might be a great option to try. However, if you don’t have trouble swallowing capsules, you can save some money with alternatives such as Calm Now or Zen Stress & Anxiety Support.
